Molly  Speckhardt

Molly grew up in dogs starting in 1979 when her parents bred their first litter of show dogs, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.  After finding out that this breed was too big for a young child to handle in the ring, Molly’s parents purchased her a Papillon, at the age of 7, and the rest is history.  While being involved in 4-H and junior handling, she had her first top winning Papillon in 1994 .  She finished out that year being the all-time top winning Phalene Papillon in the history of the breed, (#1 Papillon Bitch).  Only in the past 5 years has one dog beat her Phalene title.

After high school, her apprenticeship for being a professional Dog Handler began.  The next 5 years, she spent learning everything she would need to know to care for, condition, and present top winning show dogs for two different Professional Handlers.  When her second handler retired, she took over where they left off, and became enthralled in the handling world.  For 15 years, she had shown top winning show dogs throughout the US and abroad.  Some of her accomplishments as a handler include Best in Show winning Portuguese Water Dogs, Yorkshire Terriers, Shih Tzu and Australian Shepherds throughout the US and Internationally.  She has also been honored to show group winners in 6 of the 7 groups.   She has also shown multiple Best In Show winning dogs in other countries as Hong Kong, Thailand, and Canada.

She has also been a professional groomer since 1996, specializing in Portuguese Water Dogs.  Some of the top winning show and performance dogs that she has groomed and shown including winners from Westminster Kennel Club, the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America and Canada Nationals, and around the world.  She has also been a professional groomer for many celebrities in the Seattle area and those just visiting.
Molly currently resides in Everett, WA and is employed as Certified Master Groomer here at Posh Paws Grooming Salon.

Her Club memberships include the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, PWD Club of America, PWD club of the Northwest, and until recently, was a board member of the Mt. Rainer Yorkshire Terrier Club.

This year Molly will be working primarily as a Groomer, but is still presenting grooming seminars and is currently working with Tate Publishing to publish her new book titled, How To Groom Your Portuguese Water Dog due to be released in 2013!  Last year, she was pleased to be able to judge the Top 20 Competition for the American Bloodhound Club and this year was honored to judge the Papillon Club of America Top 20 event in March.  But it is with the greatest honor that she judged the PWDCA Top 20 Competition last September.
